Who We Are
Lorne Forsyth is Chairman of Elliott & Thompson and is responsible for the strategic development of the company. He commenced his career in the retail sector before undertaking an MBA at INSEAD. He joined Schroders corporate finance division in 1985 before moving to Morgan Grenfell (subsequently acquired by Deutsche Bank) where he developed expertise in the automotive and engineering industries, becoming head of the automotive sector practice in corporate finance. In 1997 he moved to HSBC as global head of the automotive and engineering sectors. In 2003 he joined Barchester Group Limited, the strategic and corporate finance advisory firm, where he continues as a director. During his career he has been involved in advising a number of prominent multinational companies and has also worked with a selection of private equity firms and privately owned unlisted companies.
Mark Searle began his publishing career at Pearson Education working in both Special Sales and Direct Marketing. He subsequently worked for Chrysalis Books (now Anova Books) across a number of non-fiction imprints. In 2005 he joined Think Publishing, a leading customer magazine publisher, to set up Think Books. He was appointed Publisher in 2007 and developed the imprint as it became a joint venture with Pan Macmillan. He has worked with a range of organisations and bestselling authors to create books on a diverse range of subjects – from the Wildlife Trusts to the Royal Horticultural Society, from Global Radio to The San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards. After leaving Macmillan, he worked on freelance projects for Boxtree, Rodale and Elwin Street Publications. He joined Elliott & Thompson as Publisher in January 2009.
Ellen Marshall graduated from Nottingham Law School in 2007 and then spent six months working in a property development business. She joined the Special Sales department of Octopus Publishing Group in April 2008 and worked there for a year, looking after key bookclub and non-traditional accounts. She joined Elliott & Thompson as Publishing Assistant in April 2009 and was promoted to Publishing Executive in September 2009.
